 Talisker Distillery Founded in 1830,

Until recently the only distillery on the rocky and remote Isle of Skye, Talisker is a heavily protected brand and rarely seen as an independent bottling. The official releases, except for the 57 Degrees North, are all bottled at the distillery‚ the whisky is peated to between 22 and 30 ppm and is distinguished by a characteristic pepperiness that is recognisable in most bottlings.

Featuring heavily in popular culture, Talisker was also the favourite malt of Robert Louis Stevenson.

Nose: Rich and fruity Victoria plums, greengages, perhaps dried orange peel with some butterscotch or rum toffee and a thread of smoke behind.

Palate: Sweet in front, then more assertive, with a whiff of smoke. The overall effect is warming. The development is towards smoke, coal-tar, and toffee.

Finish: Medium length and chilli 'catch' in the finish.
