Ledaig 15 Year Old 2006 The Whisky Show 2022 54.7% 70cl

A wonderful Ledaig expression bottled specially for The Whisky Show in 2022. Distilled at Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull, the release has spent most of its maturation in a single sherry butt. The result is a potent, peated single malt that successfully matches that Ledaig roadwork quality with deep fruit cake notes.

Tasting note:

Nose: Remarkably industrial with plume after plume of smoke. Sweetness comes through too in the form of raisins, marzipan, prunes and singed orange peel.

Palate: Rubbery, creosote-drenched smoke frames black cherry, more raisins, nutmeg, and orchard fruit. There’s a meatiness in there too.

Finish: Incredibly long with the smoky fruit notes lingering on and on.
