Blended Malt 17 Year Old Notable Age Statements 53%

An exciting release here from independent bottlers Notable Age Statements. The team says it represents their attempt to create an older style, heavily sherried whisky – and we think it’s spot on. A 2001 first-fill sherry butt from an unnamed distillery was blended with a 2006 Aultmore, resulting in a rich, elegant dram bottled at 53% ABV.

Tasting note:

Nose: A classic sherried release with earthy, nutty notes along with dark chocolate, cinnamon and dried fruits.

Palate: Almost viscously thick, brown sugar comes through along with dried citrus peels, more nuttiness, and even a slight olive brine quality.

Finish: Long and fruity, with more of that dusty earthiness from the nose.
